Maria McLean
Welcome, my name is Maria McLean, and I am the owner of Corner Booth Counseling Services. I work with adults and motivated teens in Sarasota County and throughout Florida who are struggling with anxiety, trauma, grief, self-esteem, and other life challenges and looking to find peace and understanding with themselves. These challenges may manifest as chronic worry, low self-confidence, difficulty in relationships, emotional eating or spending, shame, irritability, and low mood. I provide treatment that is both effective and empowering using compassion, humor, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to help heal you heal and regain control of your life.
I believe your life has deep significance and remarkable worth. I have a client-centered, supportive, and empathetic approach to therapy. I am passionate about helping clients develop new coping skills, strengthen boundaries, gain self-value, and find a more authentic and joyful life.
Education
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (License No SW21547) with a Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) from the University of Louisville, Kent School of Social Work. Additionally, I hold an undergraduate degree in Finance from Saint Xavier University in Chicago.
Corner Booth Counseling was born from the idea of pushing the boundaries of traditional therapy, offering a more dynamic and integrated approach. In addition to conventional therapy settings, I offer nature-based, walking psychotherapy, where we step outside to connect with both nature and your healing process.
If the weather isn't ideal for walking, we can meet in a cozy corner booth at a local coffee shop, in my office, or through virtual sessions. The possibilities are endless, and my goal is to make therapy a comfortable and flexible experience that suits your needs.
